Racers have a new high-efficiency oil pump on the block – the Cordis, from AT Power.
The new dry sump pump, designed in collaboration with engineering legend David Lazenby, has many novel features for higher performance in a smaller and lighter package at a great price.
The pump, a three-rotor design, features unique dual inlet porting to improve the pressure rotor filling and hence performance at high shaft speeds. Better delivery at high shaft speeds means that the pump can be sized smaller than conventional designs, saving weight and space.
The stage housings, machined in-house from billet aluminium and anodised, are more compact, lighter and stronger than a conventional cast design. The stages are dowelled together for improved shaft alignment and secured with reusable high-tensile ARP bolts. The adjustable oil connections make it easier to install and pipe up in a crowded engine bay.
Two sizes are available – for engines of 600cc-1600cc and for 1600cc - 3.5L V8.
A billet-machined dry sump pan is also available to enhance the performance of the new Cordis pump. The pan has individual pickup reservoirs with fully immersed AT Power filtration and 4-position outlets.
The pan is stiffer and up to 1kg lighter than cast units, with a leak-free design.
At launch, kits are available for Duratec & Sigma, with Honda K20 and Vauxhall XE variants due shortly. Full prices will be available shortly.
