The east of England’s largest selling daily newspaper has launched its annual search to find the most aspirational entrepreneurs of the past year.
The Future50 was launched by the Eastern Daily Press (EDP) in association with East of England Development Agency (EEDA) on April 16 to seek out its class of 2010. The list will be comprise 50 entrepreneurs from Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire who own growing, successful businesses that have weathered the recession.
Tribe helped a client make the grade last year by writing a winning Future50 entry for Zak Ireson and Steve Jaggard of Norwich-based
Further Search Marketing. The pair, who set up one of the region’s first specialist search marketing and social media agencies in May 2006, spotted an opportunity to carve a niche in search engine optimisation (SEO) and social media marketing. The company made it through and was recognised as one of the youngest businesses in the Future 50 list.
And both this year and last year, Tribe co-ordinated sponsorship of the Future50 for their client, Go for it! Enterprising Norwich, which provides support to new business start-ups and budding entrepreneurs in the city (

There is a strong focus to get business women to enter the Future50 this year. Deputy managing director Donna Chessum attended the ‘EDP Future50: Where are the Women?’ event organised by Women’s Employment and Enterprise Training Unit (WEETU).
“Last year there were only two women in the Future50 and so the seminar focused on why this was. Interesting points were made such as whether women regarded success differently to men, and if there could be strong mentoring schemes in place for women,” said Donna.
